Gamehosting na Slovensku sa postupne rozširuje a začína byť bežne dostupnou internetovou službou. Nie všetci poskytovatelia týchto služieb sú ale dostatočne kvalitní a schopní zabezpečiť to čo proklamujú v ponukách. Trendom dnešných gamehosterov je doslova odrovnať konkurenciu čo najnižšou cenou. To je samozrejme pozitívne. Hovorí sa predsa, že čím väčšia konkurencia, tým nižšie pôjdu ceny a to je pre koncového zákazníka lepšie.
Platí to ale aj v tomto prípade? Žial, často krát nie. Kvalita niektorých slovenských gamehosterov je pochybná i bez „machinácií” s cenami. Keď sa gamehoster na Slovensku rozhodne znížiť cenu, resp začne svoje pôsobenie na trhu s veľmi nízko nasadenými cenami má to i tú stránku, ktorú daný gamehoster neuvedie. S nízkou cenou, častokrát ide ruka v ruke nízka kvalita. Dôvod je jasný, gamehoster predsa nebude dávať zákazníkovi niečo zadarmo, extra kvalitu za nízku cenu. Ak by nechal vysokú kvalitu, tak by na 1 serveri spustil menej herných serverov a tým pádom by to nebolo preňho ekonomicky výhodné.
Povedzme, že pre to, aby mohol platiť mesačné výdavky, potrebuje gamehoster zarobiť sumu napr. 60 € za 1 mesiac. Treba si uvedomiť, že sú dva spôsoby ako zarobiť potrebnú sumu.
Prvým spôsobom je: „Poskytnem napr. 5 kvalitných herných serverov za sumu 12 € / 1 herný server a spolu získam potrebných 60 €. Tým, že budú kvalitné síce naplním kapacitu stroja, ale cieľových 60 € zarobím.” Zákazník síce bude trochu nespokojný su sumou, ktorú musí platiť, ale dostane naozaj kvalitnú službu.
Druhým spôsobom ako zarobiť potrebných 60 € je: „Keď bude jeden herný server stáť iba 4 € a potrebujem zarobiť 60 €, tak musím na jednom serveri spustiť 15 herných serverov. Aby mi to server utiahol, musím znížiť kvalitu služby.” Je to síce marketingové lákadlo na zákazníkov, ale za akú cenu? Zákazník dá 4 € za niečo s čím absolútne nebude spokojný. Nakoniec aj tak bude musieť prejsť k tomu kvalitnejšiemu gamehosterovi a zaplatiť tých 12 €. Tým pádom zaplatí 4€ a tiež 12 €, takže prerobí. Ako sa hovorí, nie sme tak bohatí, aby sme si mohli dovoliť kupovať lacné veci. Na tento príklad to platí dokonale.
